Haute Couture

Hey y’all and whoever is still interested in listening to my internet voice, welcome back. I’m very excited about this post, because It’s Paris Fashion Week and we’re talking all things Haute Couture.

For those of you that don’t know what Haute Couture is, I have added a link that shares exactly what it is. Thankfully, there are sources such as, The Business of Fashion, providing meanings behind terms, phrases, and concepts in fashion, so if you seek knowledge there is an accessible way to find it. This website explains the meaning and history of Haute Couture and the qualifications to become an official house. https://www.businessoffashion.com/education/fashion-az/haute-couture

Now this fashion week is quite important, because these collections that are being shown are the looks for the upcoming season for these houses, but most importantly help set the tone for fall fashion as a whole. Fall is essentially the most important season in fashion, because it sets the tone for the entire year. Magazines, Haute Couture houses, and ready to wear all work to make sure that the fall fashion season is the biggest launch of the year with designs and content, because a misstep is not an option. I added a link to Harper’s Bazaar, where you can see some of the hottest collections in fashion week thus far.

One common theme that almost everyone anticipates during fashion week is seeing who at what show, who’s sitting front row at the fashion shows, and what they’re wearing. Most of the people that we see sitting front row today are major designers, magazine editors, and celebrities. This adds to the excitement of the shows, because sitting front row at fashion week is a pretty big deal and if you are ever granted the honor, you make sure that your look is front row worthy. Many of these celebrities wear custom designs from these fashion houses to commemorate the release of their fall collections. People magazine has been keeping up with these celebrities and giving us a chance to see who they’re wearing and I hope you guys love the looks as much as me.

I think it’s important to acknowledge the work and time put in to make these fashion shows so great. I’m usually the individual that enjoys the behind the scenes photographs and videos, because it feels more realistic when I can see the effort that everyone puts in for one collective goal. Which is why I added this link to a backstage slideshow of fashion week photographed by Corey Tenold. Take a look and see how all of the pieces work together to give you a damn good fashion show.

One collection that I have been anticipating is Chanel. Chanel never disappoints during fashion week, but this year i quite important, because things have changed. Karl Lagerfeld has created for the Chanel brand for over thirty years. However, due to his passing, Chanel was forced to choose a new Creative Director to take on the responsibilities that can no longer be carried out by Karl.Virginie Viard has now been officially appointed as Chanel’s new creative director and since the announcement, we’ve all been anticipating the debut collection After their show, Vogue had released a slideshow of all the looks served to us to admire for another day. Take a look and be in awe like me.

Click on the links and be a part of Paris Fashion Week in spirit. Comment and let me know what you think of the collections and which looks stood out to you the most. I hope that you learned a little bit about fashion week and you enjoy it just a little bit more. Thanks for reading.
