Hey y’all. Welcome back, I hope you’re all doing well and life is going wonderfully for you. I thought it would be interesting to talk about a quote that I find to be a healthy reminder in this field.

Calvin Klein is one of the most influential and controversial American designers that has existed in fashion. From his commercials, magazine spreads, to ad campaigns, he has always been known to push the envelope for the sake of creativity. Calvin Klein’s intent for me, has always been clear. He is enjoying himself in the process of creating.

“What we're doing is fun, if you have any sense of humor at all.” - Calvin Klein

Often times, when people start a career for a passion that they love, they either grow to love it even deeper, because they are living their dream everyday. Or they lose the desire to create, because they are no longer doing it for themselves. Their dream has now become a job. However, this quote is a constant reminder that when you are creating in this industry or any industry for that matter, you should be having fun when you create.

People take fashion too serious and sometimes forget that it's just art. Just because it’s a paying career does not mean you shouldn’t be enjoying yourself every step of the way.

While I am not a designer, I do love to create content and collaborate on ideas for styling and designing, because it is fun. I truly believe that if I do not wake up everyday feeling fulfilled with what I do then it’s not meant for me. I mean, obviously not everyday is going to be the best, but being able to appreciate the opportunity to create is enough fulfillment for me. Fashion should always be fun, so you should never feel stressed when designing, styling, modeling, or even just getting dressed. When you remember that what you do should endorse your happiness, you start to create things much more true to yourself.

I had recently been a part of a photoshoot with an up and coming photographer, Joshua Richardson. Joshua is from Pittsburg, PA and had reached out to do a shoot with me to build his portfolio and provide me some more content to post for you guys. Fortunately, we got some really great shots. And it was actually a really fun experience. I went in nervous at first, because we had never worked together before, but I just remembered that if I’m enjoying myself then whatever comes from the shoot will be something great. This was a fun experience that I wanted to share with you, but also a small instance that I remembered that quote. What we’re doing is fun and that’s all I needed to keep in mind.

I hope you guys find something in life that allows you to have fun when you create. Comment and let me know what your creative outlet is and if you see yourself doing it for a living in the future. Also follow Joshua Richardson on Instagram @photorichj to see some of the shots we got and some of his other shoots he’s done so far. Thanks for reading.

Here's a photo from the shoot that I really liked. The look had a pretty simple summer

streetwear vibe and I really wanted the photoshoot to reflect that. Of course I'll breakdown

the look by price and all just in case you guys need some style inspiration. I must warn you though, this look was a little more pricey, because of the shoes and shirt I’m wearing.

Shirt: OTR II Concert T-shirt: Beyoncé & Jay-Z official tour store: $40

Shorts: Levis Slim fit Jeans (I cut into shorts and distressed): Kohl's $25

Socks: 5 pack long crew socks: H&M $10

Shoes: Fenty Puma by Rihanna Creepers: Urban Outfitters $80

Watch and Bracelets: Target $24
